MEMORIAL TO VIETNAM VETERANS - 18 AUGUST 2008
The Vietnam Veterans committee of the Goodna RSL Services Club raised funds to erect a tribute to the men and women who serve this great country. Many ideas were thrown around over the last twelve months, and many hours spent on the internet looking for designs. The final design was the brainstorm of a hand of dedicated and passionate veterans who felt that less was more, and simplicity was what they agreed upon.
On the 18th August 2008 at the ceremony for Vietnam Veterans Day the Memorial was dedicated by Pastor Ray Chapman, himself a Vietnam Veteran, who called upon four service persons to place their hands on the memorial, during his dedication. The significant part of this group were that two of them were Vietnam Veterans and the other two were serving Peace Keepers.
The facade facing the Club depicts a cemetary showing the headstones of those that have paid the supreme price, and there overlooking the grave site are the Images of service persons from the Army Navy, Air Force and the Nurses, and it simply states
"LEST WE FORGET"

The facade facing away from the club is a typical scene of two men from a unit giving cover to there fellow troops who are landing in choppers, which typifies a Landing Zone. The script under this is
"DEDICATED BY THE VIETNAM VETERANS IN HONOUR TO ALL THOSE THAT SERVE THIS COUNTRY"
